A BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE
AYACUCHO - CANGALLO

In the 10th cycle of my career, I took a practical course to the community, where I had to travel to Ayacucho - Cangallo. This place is a beautiful community, where I got many experiences; At the beginning I was very afraid to travel, since I had never traveled alone but I had to do it because it was part of my career, so I had to travel to Cangallo.

We were 21 students and a Teacher, our goal was to carry out educational projects to satisfy educational and social needs. When we arrived in Cangallo we stayed in the lodging called OTI and we had to be there more than 30 days. The coexistence with my classmates was incredible to the point of calling us "family", for example when we had to have breakfast one of my classmate called everybody "family to have breakfast" and we went to the dining room. I will never forget those moments.

On the first Monday in October we presented ourselves to the municipality the first hour, well I was a little nervous because I had to represent my group and speak a few words to the mayor of Cangallo, it was also a new experience to address an authority and all workers Of the municipality.
Fortunately we received the unconditional support of the municipality of the community and the UGEL.

The group # 23 realized different projects according to their specialty, I and my group of foreign languages we realized two projects:
1. English workshop in "Corazón de Jesús" school - Cangallo, with students of 5th and 6th grade primary, the object was that twhen they entering high school wasn't very difficult to learn English and also they can have a basic level.
2. environment of didactic materials of English: carried out in "Santa Rosa" school in the library we left more than 25 subjects so that the teacher of English can use the teaching materials and teaching is more didactic and fun.

I did a project for children of the first grade of elementary school in "Corazon de Jesus" School, well this workshop filled me with many experiences, because I could observe the level of English in the province was extremely low or zero and that's what I lived in Cangallo with the first grade children. The first workshop felt like I was talking and singing alone ... because children just looked at me and said "where are you from?" But then I tried to do something they already knew but using the English language "PLAY", I started to play with them using the English language and little by little they became familiar with the English language, It was not easy to capture their attention but I achieved it and I felt a huge satisfaction. I knew it was just the beginning of many things I could do. Teaching children is very complicated but if you use fun methodologies you can capture their attention and you can keep it.
When it was the fourth workshop I returned them to evaluate and I could see that they already understood some phrases and even sang the songs in English, maybe they didn't pronounce it exactly but they already assimilated and sang along with me.
IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE !!!
Less I just have read you post, I like all your photos and your project too, because I noticed that you use a lot of imagination to create all your English materials you are so creative... I know wthat you have worked a lot to do all of these.. Congratulation for that !!

Hi lesli, I have read your blog. It is interesting, i enjoyed reading it. As i read and i knew that the community where you went was the most comfortable, that means fortunately you didn't suffer a lot.
